English<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This term, we are focusing on Treason<\/em> by Berlie Doherty. We will be writing a historical narrative that includes a dialogue between the main character (William) and Henry VIII, using figurative language to reflect changes in mood throughout the piece. Later in the term, we will also be creating poems about Henry VIII\u2019s six wives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mathematics<\/span> <\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In mathematics lessons, we will be focusing on fractions, decimals and percentages, developing confidence in converting between them and applying this knowledge to a range of problems. Later in the term, we will move on to ratio and proportion, followed by work on measures, including calculating the area and volume of different shapes. Throughout the term, children will continue to apply their learning to real-life contexts to deepen their understanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This term in science, the children will be exploring how living things have changed over time and how fossils help us understand what life on Earth was like millions of years ago. They will learn that animals and plants produce offspring of the same kind, but that these offspring are not identical and show natural variation. The children will also investigate how different organisms are adapted to suit their environments, and how, over many generations, these adaptations can lead to evolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They will find out about the work of Charle Darwin and his work on finches and tortoises on the Galapagos Islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Physical Education<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This term, the children will be developing their skills in tag rugby and swimming. In tag rugby, they will learn how to move into space, pass accurately, and work effectively as part of a team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During swimming lessons, they will focus on building confidence in the water, improving their stroke technique, and developing stamina. Across both activities, the children will also learn to apply rules fairly and safely while building their tactical understanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After half term, we\u2019ll explore the music of Glenn Miller in Hey Mr Miller, learning about arpeggios, singing in rounds, listening to his famous works, and trying scat singing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

PSHE<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This term in PSHE, children will explore how information is shared online and learn how content is targeted at different audiences. They will examine a range of media types, discuss their role and impact, and develop skills to evaluate the reliability and purpose of media sources. Alongside this, pupils will learn about the importance of valuing diversity, recognising and challenging discrimination, and questioning stereotypes, helping them to build respect for others and make thoughtful, informed choices in the world around them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In geography lessons, children will learn more about the polar regions. They will first locate This term, the children will be learning about Trade and Economy. They will explore what importing and exporting mean and investigate some of the countries the UK trades with. Using maps, the children will identify these countries and discuss the reasons why certain goods are traded, developing their understanding of how global trade works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This term, the children will be finding out about Life in Tudor Britain. They will learn about Henry VIII by exploring a range of historical sources and discussing how people\u2019s opinions can be biased. The children will then investigate the significant changes Henry introduced during his reign and consider the impact these decisions have had on our lives today. They will also compare and contrast our current monarch with Henry VIII, exploring how the role of the monarchy has changed over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This half term, the children will be designing and creating their own Tudor houses using balsa wood. They will begin by researching a range of Tudor house designs to understand their key features. The children will then learn and practise different joining techniques, as well as measure and cut materials carefully to construct a strong and accurate structure. This project will help them develop their design skills, creativity, and confidence in working with new materials. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
