Science<\/span><\/strong> – Animals including humans<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In this unit we will name some common animals, learn about animal groups, compare the structure of different animals, sort animals by their diet, label the human body and learn about our 5 senses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

History<\/span> <\/strong>– Significant People Past and Present \u2013 William Caxton and Alexander Graham Bell<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In history, children will be learning about individuals who have changed how we communicate with each other. We will learn what books were like before the invention of the printing press and what a difference this new invention has had on the availability of books and literature. We will also look at the invention of the telephone and consider its impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Geography<\/span><\/strong> – Place and Space<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This term, we will be learning that maps, pictures and stories can be used to find out about places. We will describe the features of a story setting environment. We will name the countries of the UK and capital cities and know what a capital city is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RE<\/strong><\/span> <\/strong><\/strong>– <\/strong><\/strong>Festivals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This term, we will learn about the Jewish festival of Sukkot and Christian Harvest celebrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Art<\/span><\/strong> – Drawing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In our Art lessons, we will study mark making using a variety of media. We will explore why colour is important in art and how artists create shadow and tone. We will use our observational drawing skills to create still life images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Design and Technology<\/span><\/strong> – Cooking and Nutrition<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We will explore delicious fruit and vegetables. We will design and make a fruit salad and a savoury salad.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

PSHE<\/span><\/strong> – Respecting ourselves and others<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The focus of this unit is to explore how we are all unique. We will look at friendships and teamwork so that we learn how to work and cooperate with others with respect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Music<\/span> – <\/strong>Tony Chestnut, Carnival of the Animals and Musical Conversations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In music this term, children will continue with the Sing Up programme, enjoying songs such as Tony Chestnut<\/em> to explore rhythm, pitch, and performance skills. They will also listen to Carnival of the Animals, responding to the music through movement and discussion, and take part in Musical Conversations, developing listening, turn-taking, and expressive skills through interactive music activities. These experiences help children build confidence, creativity, and a love of music.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Computing<\/span> <\/strong> – Digital Photography<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In Computing, we will learn about digital photography using the iPads.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Physical Education<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We have two PE lessons each week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a Wednesday we will be learning how to play hockey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a Thursday we will be practising throwing and catching skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

French<\/span><\/strong> – Minibeasts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This term, children will continue learning French through Language Angels, focusing on the topic of minibeasts. They will explore the names of insects and small creatures, practise speaking and listening skills, and take part in songs, games, and actions to make learning fun and memorable.
