Enrichment
At Linby cum Papplewick C of E Primary School, we believe that learning does not happen in isolation but is part of the rich experiential approach to the whole being and that learning is intrinsically linked to life skills, personal wellbeing and emotional resilience. We believe that our children will become better equipped to learn if we give them these rich learning and life experiences and therefore they will make greater progress and achieve greater outcomes and potential.
We strive to give all learners equal opportunity to experience a broad and rich range of extended learning and life opportunities in order to support their continued progress in learning, enhance their emotional wellbeing, develop life skills of collaboration, independence, curiosity, awe, wonder, problem solving, risk taking and enjoyment.
This year, our enrichment program has included a whole school Pantomime visit, specialist training in hockey and table tennis, KS2 choir performance at the Young Voices Concert at Sheffield Arena, a whole school Values Day, First Aid Training, weekly visits to Sherwood House Care Home, a whole school celebration of King Charles III Coronation, Prayer Club, Resilience Champion Team, a whole school 80th VE Day celebration, Team Sports Day, Family Sports evening, Family School Camp and trips to PGL, Safety Zone at The National Watersports Centre, watching a European Championship Veteran England Hockey vs Wales match, The National Space Centre, Papplewick Pumping Station, Southwell Minster, Arc Cinema and Magna!
We are excited to welcome Forest School to our enrichment programme starting in October 2025. This addition will offer children even more opportunities to learn, explore, and problem-solve within the beautiful grounds of Linby cum Papplewick C of E Primary School. Through engaging outdoor activities, pupils will deepen their connection to nature, develop new skills, and experience a different style of learning that complements and enhances their classroom curriculum. Forest School will be a valued part of our wider enrichment offer, helping children grow in confidence, creativity and curiosity.
King Charles III Coronation Celebrations
To celebrate the King’s Coronation, we held a royal themed day that included children participating in lots of different activities: crown making, cream tea served at Sherwood House to the residents, a royal banquet, an afternoon of traditional games and cream teas after school.
PGL Caythorpe
In the Autumn Term of 2024, our Year 6 pupils enjoyed an exciting residential trip to PGL Caythorpe. The children had a brilliant time taking part in a wide range of adventurous activities, building confidence, teamwork and unforgettable memories along the way. The highlight of the trip, as voted by the children, was the thrilling Giant Swing – a firm favourite that brought laughter, cheers, and a great sense of achievement!
My favourite memory of Year 6 was PGL because of the activities. I enjoyed the giant swing the most. It was scary when you were waiting to swing. – Jacob
In the Autumn Term, our Year 6 pupils visited PGL Caythorpe with our friends from Hucknall National Primary School. Despite the wet conditions, the children had a fantastic five days enjoying all of the activities and making lots of memories.
In the spring half term, our Year 6 pupils visited PGL Caythorpe. They enjoyed three days of testing their nerves on lots of different activities including wall climbing, the giant swing and raft building.

To celebrate all things sports, we held our annual potted sports day in the summer term. Children were grouped into teams consisting of Reception – Year 6 children. Each team was led by Year 6 pupils and they had to work together to score as many points as they could on each station.
Congratulations to Champion Chickens, who were crowned the 2025 Team Champions!
In the summer of 2024, the Potted Sports Day had an Olympic theme. Each team spent the morning learning about their team’s country. In the afternoon, the teams represented their countries while competing in various activities. Congratulations to Team Ghana, who triumphed on the day!
A big well done to all the children who took part. There was lots of teamwork and encouragement shown throughout the day.
